Twilio discontinued its Programmable Fax offering in December 2021. The service had enabled developers to send and receive faxes through Twilio’s REST API, making it possible to incorporate faxing into business software and workflows.

For teams that still need programmable faxing, the priority is not simply replacing an endpoint. It is preserving secure authentication, dependable transmission, delivery visibility, and an integration that fits the systems people already use.

A migration path for Twilio customers

Fax.Plus is Twilio’s official partner for cloud faxing and provides an enterprise-ready API for applications, ERPs, CRMs, legacy systems, and cloud platforms. Teams can build faxing into an existing product or operational workflow rather than moving users between separate tools.

Authentication supports OAuth 2.0 and personal access tokens (PATs), so teams can choose the approach that matches their security model. The API documentation provides the technical detail needed to plan an implementation and map an existing fax workflow to Fax.Plus.

What you can build with the Fax.Plus API

The API covers the core capabilities teams need to operate a fax workflow from within their own application.

Send and receive faxes. Keep faxing inside the software or system your team already uses.

Connect your workflows. Use REST API endpoints and webhooks for real-time updates.

Track delivery. Retrieve detailed fax confirmation reports when a workflow needs visibility.

Manage fax numbers. Purchase and manage fax numbers through the API.

Customize outgoing faxes. Add cover pages to support your communication workflow.

Built for developer workflows

Fax.Plus provides documentation and SDK support for JavaScript, Node.js, Ruby, Python, and Java. This gives development teams a practical starting point whether they are extending an existing integration or building a new fax capability into a product.

Webhooks can notify your application as a fax moves through its lifecycle, while confirmation reports make it easier to surface delivery information where your team already works. Together, these tools help keep the user experience and operational visibility inside your own system.
